As Wing First Aid (Instruction) Officer (FAI), Flight Lieutenant Paul Maitland is responsible for the provision of first aid training to all West Mercian Wing staff and cadets. Through Flt Lt Maitland and his team the Wing runs a number of first aid training courses for cadets and staff.

Young Life Saver Plus (YLSP)

Cadets are now required to gain their Young Life Saver Plus qualification before passing their Leading cadet examination and in order to help them do this the Wing runs regular YLSP training weekends at various venues around the Wing.

First Aid Training

The Wing also runs Appointed Person and First Aid at Work first aid courses for staff and cadets. These courses are available to West Mercian Wing personnel at greatly discounted prices compared to those charged by companies operating in the private sector.
