Wing Photographic Competition

1. ELIGIBILITY

Squadrons may enter one photograph each for the cadet and adult staff competitions.  Individuals submitting photographs must have been enrolled or begun their probationary service as a CI at the time the photograph was taken.

2. ENTRY DATES

A completed entry form must accompany entries.  All photographs submitted must have been taken between 1st January 2007 and 31st December 2007.  Entries must reach Wing HQ by 31st January 2008; no entries will be accepted after this date.

3. CONTENT

Entries must show cadets and/or staff with a large degree of Media and Communications potential.  Images should feature a considerable amount of human interest and where possible include badges, flags, posters, etc.  Uniform must be correctly worn and where applicable the correct level of supervision demonstrated, for example photographs featuring cadets on the range must include the appropriate number of safety supervisors and show all personnel wearing ear defenders.

4. SUBMISSIONS

  • A completed entry form must accompany all submissions.
  • Entries are to be a minimum of 6” x 4” and a maximum of A4 in size.  Prints are to be mounted on card or similar material for display.
  • Printed digital images may be submitted.  When submitting printed digital images the original digital image should be supplied on a CD-ROM, this should be high resolution if possible.
  • Negatives and Transparencies will not be accepted.
  • All entries are to be captioned with a suitable title.
  • A label on the reverse of each image should identify the entrant’s name, squadron and title
  • Only one cadet and one adult staff entry is permitted per squadron.

5.         JUDGING

The photographs will be numbered and presented to a panel of judges without identifying the source of the image to ensure impartiality.

6.         PRINTS AND COPYRIGHT

By entering the competition you are deemed to have granted West Mercian Wing the right to arrange publication and display of the images entered, without payment or fee.  The images may be used for publicity purposes.  All entries will be displayed at the Wing training weekend and published on the West Mercian Wing website.

7.         LOSS OR DAMAGE

Every care will be taken with submitted entries; however West Mercian Wing will not incur any liability for any loss or damage, however caused.

8.         INTERPRETATION OF RULES

West Mercian Wing MCO’s decision will be final on all matters relating to the interpretation of the rules of the competition.
