Details of the West Mercian Wing Media and Communications competition are published below.

The aims of the competition are:

1. To encourage Squadron Commanders/Media and Communications Officers to fully publicise the activities of their unit and to present themselves and the Corps in a positive light.
2. To encourage Squadron Commanders/Media and Communications Officers to keep the Wing MCO fully appraised of your successes via the monthly reporting method already in place.

The competition will run from 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2008 with the trophy being presented at the Wing Training Weekend in June 2008.  No extra work is required on the part of Squadron Commanders as the scoring will based on the information that should already be returned to WHQ.

The scoring system is designed to reward effort and communication not success and is outlined below:

• 10 points for each news release copied to the WMCO
• 5 points for timely (before 10th of the following month) return of monthly activity reports and 2 points for late returns
• 2 points for each news story published or broadcast in the local media.
